Ingrid Kihl - Human Athlete, to Human Resources, to Human Development Coach

As a young athlete, I was struck by the essence of coaching. I was good at multiple sports and my coaches wanted only to help me get better. Together we carved out my development path, leveraging my strengths and stretching into new territory. The accomplishments for me individually and for my teams fed my sense of joy, freedom, peacefulness and purpose.

These lessons translated immediately to professional life. I continued to hone my craft of aligning people and their strengths to roles and teams as a Human Resources Manager in the dynamic world of IT Consulting and Software Development. Navigating start-ups, growth, acquisition and business closure. Working alongside leaders and owners, we navigated the complete life cycle of business and our roles in it.

In 2006, I awakened deeply to my path of Human Development Coaching–studying and certifying in the science and psychology of how people make change and develop new capabilities. Knowing I could always coach myself for the rest of my life – now 18 years into this chapter of my journey, I’ve had the privilege of guiding over 1,000 individuals from diverse industries and backgrounds through career and life transitions, big and small.

“Building a career around what we’re good at doesn’t mean we avoid learning new skills, struggling or making mistakes.

I love Eckhart Tolle’s philosophy that for most situations in life we have three choices:

Accept it,

Change it

or Leave it

We often oscillate through all three until we’re sure of our next step.

Strengths-based coaching helps us to align our careers more closely with our values and purpose. As a result, we’re more likely to persevere through difficulty, and maximize our impact.”
